Unai Emery declared himself “very happy” with Aston Villa’s win against Nottingham Forest but believes his team can still improve.

Second-half strikes from Bertrand Traoré and Ollie Watkins did the damage as the Villans racked up a fourth consecutive victory in the Premier League.

Head coach Emery was pleased by a third straight win at Villa Park while pointing out some areas for improvement.

“I’m very happy for the fans,” he said.

“At home we are taking clean sheets, three times in the last three matches, and we’ve scored six goals, and we are winning.

“I’m very demanding with our idea, our style, and how we can improve each match getting better. Today, I’m very, very happy with the result but I’m going to analyse the game because I think we can do better and improve.

“We can be demanding of ourselves to continue in our way.”

The home crowd revelled in their side’s latest success, with Villa moving up to sixth in the table.

Emery felt his side adapted well to overcome a stubborn Forest, who set out to make it hard for Villa from the first whistle.

He said: “Each match is very different.

“The last match at home against Bournemouth was very different; against Chelsea very different; very different against Leicester and today the same. We have to adapt.

“We have to be patient when the opponent is waiting lower than other teams have done. We have to understand, adapt and then try to impose our idea.

“We have to have the same objective of attacking them but being intelligent, being smart and trying to occupy good spaces.

“Today, was a match in 90 minutes to be smart and play in different moves during the match. We didn’t want to concede transitions because they are very good playing in transition, and we did it.

“We played well. I think we can do better but I think we were passionate in our way.”
