Bertrand Traoré cut a delighted figure after helping Aston Villa secure another three points with a last-gasp winner at Leicester City.

The Burkina Faso winger, a late substitute at King Power Stadium, had only been on the pitch two minutes when he duly curled home a superb first-time strike from 25 yards.

The excellent finish secured a 2-1 success and sparked wild scenes of celebration among the travelling faithful as it extended the club’s unbeaten run to six matches.

Traore picked the perfect moment to net his first Villa goal since May 2021, and he could not have been happier speaking to VillaTV post-match.

“Great win, three points and I’m on the scoresheet again, so I’m very happy,” he said.

“It’s always what you dream about when you come on as a substitute, try to make an impact, try to help the team.

“I was coming in and we were drawing 1-1, we really wanted to win this game so I tried to help the team as much as possible.

“I was happy, I was lucky also that I was rewarded with the winning goal.

“So, I’m happy for the team.”

Aston Villa took on Leicester City in the Premier League on Tuesday night.

Victory over the Foxes ensured Villa have now won five of their last six matches, triumphing in six of Unai Emery’s eight league fixtures on the road.

And Traoré hailed the team spirit in the Villa dressing room as they look to finish the campaign on a high.

“We have a good squad of players and friends, so we are in a good way and we are in a good place,” he added.

“We have a good atmosphere in and around the pitch, this is really important for the rest of the season and for the future of this team.”
