Rachel Daly has urged Aston Villa Women not to get ‘carried away’ after Sunday’s opening day victory over Manchester City.

Daly marked her debut with two goals in a thrilling win at Villa Park, as Villa opened the campaign with three big points.

“We can’t get carried away,” Daly quipped during her post-match interview.

“We didn’t have the strongest pre-season, we knew there was a lot of work that needed to be done, but what you saw was a team with resilience.”

Villa’s resilience was on full display having seen a two-goal lead disappear.

City got themselves back into the game just before half-time, before adding two further goals in quick succession to take the lead.

But Kenza Dali scored from long range to get Villa back on level terms, before Daly tapped in a late winner to seal a perfect welcome back to the UK.

“Some would say a dream debut I suppose!” she beamed.

“Obviously it’s nice to get on the scoresheet, not once but twice, but more importantly three points at Villa Park in front of a great crowd. That’s what it’s all about.”
