Douglas Luiz was named in Aston Villa’s starting line-up for their Premier League clash against Manchester City.
The Brazil international midfielder returned to Villa’s XI having stepped off the bench to net his second goal of the season, both coming direct from a corner, in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal.
With Emi Buendía named among the substitutes, head coach Steven Gerrard made just one change from the side which started at Emirates Stadium.
Deadline-day signing Jan Bednarek was also included on the bench for the encounter against the reigning champions at Villa Park.
Although there was no place in the matchday 20 for fellow new arrival Leander Dendoncker, who was struggling with a throat complaint ahead of the fixture.
