Carla Ward believes Aston Villa Women are 'only going to go in one direction' if their performance levels continue.
Ward watched on as her side rued several missed chances before losing on penalties against Everton in the Conti Cup on Wednesday.
But the bigger picture would suggest the team are on the right path and that results will eventually come.
“I thought we were excellent in the first half," the boss stated in her post-match interview.
"It’s not quite going for us in front of goal at the moment, we had four or five big opportunities in the first half. We probably gave them a foothold for five or 10 minutes in the second half and they’ve had one attempt on target which they’ve put in the back of the net. We’re playing some unbelievable stuff at the moment. If we continue in that manner, we’re only going to go in one direction.”

Ward was full of praise for her side's overall display, but also gave recognition to Tash Harding who opened her account on Wednesday evening.
“Tash has put that [goal] through brilliantly, I thought she was tremendous," the manager beamed.
"She worked well and we’re pleased with the 90-minute performance. Tash has worked the line really well and she’s certainly given us food for thought which is what you want when you make changes.”
