At A Glance

Aston Villa Women will face Everton for the second time in five days on Wednesday evening.

Carla Ward's side lost 1-0 to the Toffees on Saturday at Poundland Bescot Stadium, their second consecutive defeat of the season after a lightning quick start.

Villa have played well in large parts against both Everton and West Ham United but have come away with nothing.

Now, they continue their FA Women's Continental League Cup campaign having picked up two points in their opener against Manchester United.

Wednesday's game will not be streamed live, but tickets can be purchased below.

This week's Conti Cup opponents are, as mentioned, Everton.

The Toffees endured a tumultuous 2021/22 campaign which involved a mid-season management change and a 10th-place finish.

Everton have since appointed Brian Sørensen to right the ship on Merseyside, and early impressions have been positive.

A narrow defeat on the opening day against West Ham United has been followed up by a resounding derby-day win over Liverpool, a couple of 1-0 successes against Leicester City and ourselves.

Wednesday's game will be Everton's opening game in this season's group stage.

The Last Meeting

Villa Women lost 1-0 to Everton at Poundland Bescot Stadium just days ago when these two sides last met.

Lucy Graham scored the only goal of the game with 30 minutes to go.

The result leaves Villa without a win in consecutive league games for the first time since May.

Carla Ward remains without Meaghan Sargeant, Remi Allen, Emily Gielnik, Simone Magill and Ruesha Littlejohn for the trip to Everton this week.

Elsewhere, Rachel Daly's status for Wednesday's tie is somewhat up in the air having limped off during our defeat to the Toffees.

The Boss

"We're going to make changes... we have to make changes to freshen things up and give people a chance. We've got to get the others up to speed and ready."
