Aston Villa travel to Portsmouth on Tuesday night for their Papa Johns Trophy clash at Fratton Park (7.45pm).
The Young Lions will be looking to pick up their first points of the 2022/23 competition as they visit League One Pompey on the south coast.
Tony Carss’ side lost 2-1 at AFC Wimbledon in their first southern section Group B encounter at the end of August.
Villa battled all the way against League Two Dons but fell to a narrow defeat, Taylor-Jay Hart deservedly levelling with a super 20-yard strike before the hosts triumphed at Plough Lane.
The Villans will face a high-flying Portsmouth side who are currently fourth in League One, four points off top spot with a game in hand having lost just one league match this term.
Pompey played out a 2-2 draw away at Crawley Town in their opening Papa Johns Trophy fixture this term, with the hosts going on to triumph on penalties.
The Hampshire club won the EFL Trophy in 2019 at Wembley before reaching the final again the following season as they finished runners-up.
Portsmouth bowed out in Round 3 last term as Villa also reached the knockout stages before falling to defeat at Charlton Athletic.
The Young Lions head into the clash on the back of Friday night’s 6-2 reverse to neighbours West Bromwich Albion at Villa Park.
