Ludwig Augustinsson was handed his Aston Villa debut as Steven Gerrard made two changes for the Premier League encounter at Leeds United.
The Sweden international left-back, a summer loan signing, was named in Villa’s starting XI at Elland Road as he replaced the injured Lucas Digne.
Douglas Luiz also came into midfield in place of Boubacar Kamara, who suffered a knee ligament injury in the 1-0 victory over Southampton last time out.
Defender Jan Bednarek returned to the matchday 20 having been ineligible to face parent club Saints, while there were also places among the substitutes for fit-again Cameron Archer and Lamare Bogarde.
