Lucas Digne says Aston Villa are going into Sunday’s season finale against Manchester City with the quality and intention to win.

City need a win to clinch the Premier League title on the final day while Villa are battling to finish as high as possible.

The 28-year-old is fully aware of the challenge facing his side but believes they can pull off a victory at the Etihad.

“Three points, no less,” Digne said when asked what he expects from the game.

“We go there to show our quality, to show our style and we’ll see what happens.

“It’s one of the biggest teams in the world, but we have quality and we want to finish the season in the best way.”

The Frenchman has shown all his individual qualities since joining from Everton in January, with his performances in recent weeks a particular highlight after notching some fantastic assists for his teammates.

Digne has felt the love and support from the stands during his short time at the club so far, and he’s looking forward to what the future holds beyond Sunday’s game.

He said: “In the beginning, I was a little bit unlucky with illness and my first injury.

“After that, I broke my shoulder and I pushed myself to be back quickly because I didn’t want to miss more games.

“I’m really happy to be here and I can’t wait to start the next season.”

He added: “Since day one, I felt at home. The feeling they (the fans) give us on the pitch is just amazing.”
