Ashley Young spoke of his disappointment after Aston Villa fell to a narrow 1-0 loss at home to Arsenal.
Bukayo Saka’s first-half strike proved the difference at Villa Park, although the hosts came close to a leveller during an improved second-half display, Ollie Watkins’ deflected strike hitting a post while Danny Ings sent a looping header on to the roof of the net.
However, it was not enough to gain any reward from the encounter as Steven Gerrard’s side were left heading into the international period on the back of a defeat.
And full-back Young cut a frustrated figure when asked about his assessment.

“It’s one of obvious disappointment after we’ve lost the game,” he told VillaTV.
“You look at the second-half performance and the way we’ve performed, we’ve hit the post, Ingsy just missed one, then we’ve created other chances.
“I think it was all us in the second half.
“It’s just a disappointment that we didn’t start the game like we did in the second half and play that way through.
“I think that’s been the story of quite a few games this season, especially when we’ve played against the top teams.
“So it is a lot of disappointment after the game.”
