The 2022/23 Premier League fixtures have been revealed and Aston Villa fans are busy picking out who, when and where we’ll be throughout the campaign.
It promises to be a season with a difference as the top flight is adjusted to accommodate the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with Premier League matches taking a six-week break between mid-November and Boxing Day.
Here, we’ve picked out some key dates for your diary…
Saturday, August 6
The season opener! Villa kickstart their campaign away to Premier League newcomers AFC Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium. It should hopefully be a sunny day on the south coast as Villa strive for a repeat of their victory on the opening day of the 2015/16 season.
Saturday, August 13
The first home match of the season is always one to look out for… A full house, the matchday buzz back at Villa Park and the excitement of a new chapter. Everton are the visitors for our maiden home fixture of the campaign.
Saturday, October 8
Villa have not faced East Midlands neighbours Nottingham Forest in the Premier League since 1999, and you have to go back to the previous year for our last top-flight trip to The City Ground – Julian Joachim netting a brace in an exciting 2-2 draw in November 1998.
Monday, December 26
Having last faced Brighton & Hove Albion in mid-November, the Villa faithful will be champing at the bit for Premier League action following a six-week break for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. And what better way to satisfy that need than a scintillating Boxing Day clash at home to Liverpool.
Monday, January 2
Following a New Year’s Eve encounter against Tottenham Hotspur in the capital, the start of the new year brings fresh hope and anticipation, as well the first meeting of the season against midlands rivals Wolves at Villa Park.
Sunday, May 28
That’s a wrap! Villa conclude their campaign and bring the curtain down on the 2022/23 season in front of the club’s loyal supporters at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.
