Tyrone Mings saluted Aston Villa’s “fantastic” support in Australia after the club recorded their second successive win courtesy of a 1-0 triumph over Brisbane Roar.
Cameron Archer’s solitary strike in the 77th minute proved the difference as Villa followed up their 1-0 victory over Leeds United to win the Queensland Champions Cup.
The Villans have received incredible support from the claret and blue faithful Down Under, both in Townsville and Brisbane, and centre-back Mings was quick to applaud the backing as he and his team-mates prepare to head to Perth to take on Manchester United.
Reflecting on the win at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Mings told VillaTV: “It was a very competitive game, I think it was a fantastic occasion.
“It’s a lot of our first times in Australia, certainly in Townsville.
“To see the support of all the Villa fans out here, both here and in Brisbane, has been fantastic; it’s been really appreciated by the players.
“It was a good game here, it was a good run out. We’re still finding our feet, everything is geared towards being fit and ready for Bournemouth, so it was a really good run out.”

Mings also praised fit-again fellow defender Ezri Konsa as he made his first-team comeback earlier than expected having initially been ruled out for up to 16 weeks in mid-May with a knee injury.
The clash also saw loan signing Ludwig Augustinsson enjoy his Villa debut while Emi Martínez made his first appearance of pre-season.
“Ezri is obviously ahead of schedule, which is really impressive. I think he’s worked very hard over the summer to put himself in this position,” said Mings.
“Everybody is fighting to be fit and in contention to start against Bournemouth, so it’s great to see people back from injury, making their debuts and bedding into the team.”
