Matty Cash is confident Aston Villa can turn good performances into wins, starting with Saturday’s game against Everton.

The full-back and his teammates head to Goodison Park having staged a dramatic comeback in last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

And Cash says Villa travel to Merseyside believing they can take all three points against the Toffees, who are likely to be led by caretaker boss Duncan Ferguson.

He said: “There’s been a change of management there – I’m not sure if they’ll have a new manager in for the game, but whenever there’s a change it freshens everything up.

“They’ve just come off the back of a defeat, and we’re going to be ready.

“We’re confident going there. We’re playing well and if we keep doing what we’re doing and implementing the football the gaffer wants, we’ll keep picking up results.”

Cash, who scored his only Villa goal to date in the reverse fixture, has established himself as a Premier League player since joining the club in September 2020.

The 24-year-old made his 50th appearance in claret and blue last time out, and he’s keen to kick on as he eyes a successful future with Villa.

“It was a really proud moment. To play 50 games for a great club is fantastic, and hopefully I can keep making as many appearances as I can,” he said.

“I’ve enjoyed every minute, learning every day. When I first came here, my objective was to get in the team and play. I’ve played 50 games now and I’m loving every minute.”

He added: “The character I am, there’s always more to prove and to work on, especially with where the club wants to go and the players we’re bringing in.

“It’s excellent to be playing with these sorts of players, so to keep my spot I need to be on my game and playing well.”
