Robin Olsen says his decision to join Aston Villa was an “easy choice” after completing a loan move from Roma.

The Sweden international, who has 53 caps for his country, spent the first half of the season at Championship side Sheffield United.

And after sealing a move to Villa, Olsen had no doubts that he’d made the right decision.

“I’m really, really happy,” he said.

“It’s been a couple of days of waiting to come here, so when I woke up this morning and I knew I was signing for the club I was really happy.”

He added: “It was easy (the decision to join Villa). When I heard about it from my agent for the first time, I decided to do whatever I could to change club and sign for Villa.

“It was an easy choice from the first call I had from my agent.”

Olsen, who starred for his country at the 2018 World Cup, had a first taste of top-flight football in England when he spent last season on loan at Everton, making seven Premier League appearances for the Toffees.

Now that he’s a Villa player, the 32-year-old is keen to push No.1 Emi Martínez and better himself during his time at the club.

He said: “When you come to the car park and see the building (at Bodymoor Heath), you see that it’s a massive club.

“I’ve heard how good it is, but when you’re inside and see the facilities, it’s amazing. You have everything you need to improve yourself and be as good as you can be.”

He added: “Emi’s a really good goalkeeper and I think working with him will make me a better goalkeeper.

“The level of the sessions will be high. Hopefully we can push each other to be better.”
