Old Trafford provided the setting for Monday night's third round FA Cup tie as Aston Villa faced Manchester United.

The home side made a strong start and went ahead when Scott McTominay netted after eight minutes.

Villa responded well to the setback and put United under pressure, twice seeing goals disallowed. 

However, the hosts held out to book a place in the fourth round.
