Aston Villa Women can confirm Remi Allen suffered a rupture of her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Sunday's draw with Manchester United.

The 31-year-old suffered the injury during the second half of our league clash with United and will therefore miss the remainder of the current campaign.

Our no.4 will begin her rehabilitation process immediately and is set to undergo surgery in the coming weeks.

The injury sadly cuts short an impressive debut season at the club for Remi in which she made 22 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals along the way.

Remi was named vice captain at the start of the 2021/22 season before assuming the full-time captaincy upon the retirement of Marisa Ewers in February.

Everyone at Aston Villa is with you throughout every step of your recovery, Remi!
