By Aston Villa FC

Aston Villa’s Premier League fixture against Norwich City on Saturday is dedicated to our equality, diversity and inclusion initiative ‘All In’.

The initiative, first launched in 2018, reflects our commitment to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone who wishes to be involved in our club.

We actively celebrate the diversity of our club and city and a number of players, supporters, community figures and staff have come to celebrate this message, including Jacob Ramsey, Ezri Konsa, Sian Rogers and Sophie Haywood.

We believe that every person who engages with the club has a right to be treated fairly, with dignity and respect, irrespective of their personal characteristics.

The club is therefore committed to avoiding and eliminating discrimination of any kind. During the 2021/22 season, the club launched a matchday text support service with the aim of driving confidence in supporters to report any incident of discrimination, anti-social behaviour and safeguarding concerns.

QR code stickers will also be placed behind seats, concourses and toilet stalls to enable a discreet way of reporting. Simply scan the code to open a text message pre-loaded with the trigger word ‘REPORT’ and add details and specific location of the offender.

Reporting incidents at the time, either via the text service, or directly to a steward or police officer, will ensure details are received ‘in the moment’ directly into our control room.

All In

The club will continue to work collaboratively with West Midlands Police, Kick it Out and other stakeholders to eradicate discriminatory language and behaviour from the game.

Aston Villa also work with a number of supporters’ groups who help us to drive positive messages around inclusion and take on significant engagement work in a voluntary capacity.
