Jayden Barber did well to block from Gideon Kodua early on before the Villa left-back cleared subsequent danger off the line, but the Hammers took a 15th-minute lead when Mubama slotted home from close range.
Michael Forbes poked home a second from a corner shortly afterwards before Oliwier Zych denied Mubama with a smart save.
Yet the United striker bagged his second of the game in the 37th minute when he picked up a loose ball to find the net from 12 yards.
And it was 4-0 before half-time as George Earthy slotted right-footed past Zych from inside the penalty area.
The Villa goalkeeper made a superb save to deny Earthy a second after the restart but substitute Jadel Yaduat added a fifth for the Hammers to wrap up the scoring in the 73rd minute.
Taylor-Jay Hart forced two stops from Mason Terry late on but Villa were unable to find a consolation.
