Jacob Ramsey’s first Aston Villa goal was a major positive on a tough night against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
The homegrown midfielder had been made to wait to notch his maiden goal for the club, finally finding the net on his 36th senior appearance.
Ramsey’s goal, a placed shot from the edge of the box that picked out the top corner, was just reward for his lively cameo off the bench.

He said: “It was a tough game to come onto, being 3-0 down. The gaffer puts you on to try and make an impact.
“On a personal level, I’m happy to get my first Premier League goal, first goal for the club.
“Overall, it was disappointing with the result and the performance.”
He added: “I did an interview a couple of weeks ago after the Manchester United game and I said that I wanted to get more goals and more assists.
“I think I was on 29 [Premier League] appearances, so it’s taken a while. I’m thankful that it’s come tonight, but we’re disappointed with the result.”

Villa’s next chance to get back to winning ways comes against West Ham United on home turf next weekend.
And Ramsey believes the togetherness in the squad will be important as they look to end a three-game losing run.
He said: “We’ve got a great squad in that dressing room with a lot of great players.
“We’ve got to stick together now ahead of another game against West Ham at Villa Park with the home crowd.
“I’m looking forward to that one.”
