If you need some guidance ahead of GW8, sit back and take their advice on board…
John McGinn (£5.8m) registered 13 points in Gameweek 8, his first double-digit haul of the season, to remind Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers just what the Scotland international has to offer those who invest in him.
Over the course of the 2020/21 season, McGinn secured 114 points in 37 appearances for his FPL managers. Indeed, ahead of this weekend’s trip to Arsenal, his previous top FPL score was 10 points on three occasions, two of those against ‘big six’ opposition.
McGinn is currently owned by just 0.8% of managers, making him a great differential for managers looking to boost their overall rank and climb up mini leagues.

The Villa vice captain has an expected assist (xA) tally of 0.73 so far this season. This is higher than popular FPL players such as Mason Greenwood (£7.6m) and Bukayo Saka (£6.4m), both owned by around 13% of managers.
Of midfielders under £6m in the game, McGinn’s 31 crosses ranks sixth-best and his 12 chances created comes fourth. Two of these have been classified as Big Chances, bettered by only one player in this price range.
With 353 so far this season, McGinn is also the Aston Villa midfielder who has had the most ball touches, 225 of those occurring in the opposition’s half and 129 in the final third.

Another positive for investing in Villa’s Scottish maestro is his set-piece threat. He has registered four attempts from set-pieces as well as having taken 18 corners, four of which have been deemed successful.
McGinn is also ranked 20th on the ICT index for influential midfielders, which bodes well for his potential to add bonus points on top of any clean sheet and attacking points that he brings.
For FPL managers looking to invest in a differential who has gone under-the-radar of many Fantasy managers, John McGinn could be the perfect option.
