Marvelous Nakamba admits positive team results are always more important to him than personal plaudits and it was a “fantastic feeling” to secure back-to-back victories.
The Zimbabwe international midfielder has played every minute of Steven Gerrard’s first two matches at the helm, helping seal wins over Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace.
Nakamba was superb at Selhurst Park on Saturday, clinching the club’s man of the match poll, and while he is delighted to have earned recognition for his individual display, he insists three points will always mean more.
Speaking to VillaTV, the 27-year-old said: “For me it’s always about the collective, as a team, if we do well as a team then afterwards, personal (plaudits) as well.
“It doesn’t matter like that to me, as long as the team does well, it’s more important for me.”
