GALLERY: Villa triumph at Selhurst Park

Aston Villa recorded a second successive victory under head coach Steven Gerrard courtesy of a hard-fought 2-1 triumph against Crystal Palace.

Matt Targett’s 15^th-minute strike, his first league goal for two years, separated the two sides until John McGinn curled home a sublime late effort as Villa secured their first win at Selhurst Park since 2014.

Marc Guehi netted an injury-time consolation but the Villans held firm against an Eagles side who were previously unbeaten on home soil this term.

The impressive success ensured Gerrard has collected a maximum six points from his first two matches at the helm, with John Gregory the only previous Villa boss to do so in the Premier League.
