Ollie Watkins was thrilled to beat Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night, but felt his side could have won by a bigger margin.
After falling behind early on, Aston Villa produced one of their best performances of the season and racked up 20 shots – twice as many as Spurs – during a fluent attacking effort.
Watkins netted what proved to be the winning goal – his 14th of the campaign – after Sergio Reguilon put through his own net, and the striker enjoyed being part of a strong offensive display.

He said: “We dug in well tonight and it was a great defensive performance, but also going forward.
“I think we should have punished them, and it could have been more.”
He added: “I think I could have got one more tonight, but I was a bit unlucky. I’m loving it – especially when we play like that and we push forward and create chances.
“It’s enjoyable to play in. Hopefully I can get to 15 and that’s a good tally come the end of the season.”

90 minutes against Chelsea is all that remains of a season that has seen Villa progress from last season’s relegation battle to a mid-table finish.
It’s been a memorable debut campaign in the top-flight for Watkins, who will finally play in front of home fans at Villa Park for the first time on Sunday.
“I’m looking froward to it. I’ve been waiting all year,” he said.
“My family haven’t come to a game, so I want them to see what it’s all about. It feels much louder than 10,000 fans, so I can’t wait for it to be a full stadium.”
