Aaron Ramsey has praised his Aston Villa team-mates for their dream run to the FA Youth Cup Final.

The midfielder has missed the last two rounds of the competition through injury, having netted three goals in the first three rounds.

Despite not being able to play, Ramsey has been on the journey emotionally with the squad, making sure he was there to offer support and he’s now looking ahead to Monday’s Final against Liverpool at Villa Park.

On the cup run so far, he said: “It shows how strong our squad is, how good a team we are and that we can beat anybody.

“We’ve got Liverpool on Monday and I think we’ve got a good chance of lifting the trophy.

“I was around the team for the West Brom game and it was an amazing feeling. I was gutted that I couldn’t play but I wanted to be there and around the team to help the boys.”

Aaron’s brother Jacob has made the breakthrough into Dean Smith’s first team this season, highlighting the pathway for Academy products.

A further boost arrived when Carney Chukwuemeka, alongside Jaden Philogene-Bidace, made his senior debut against Tottenham on the back of his Youth Cup displays.

He said: “It was amazing to see him and Jaden get their debuts – Carney nearly scored as well. We were all texting each other and when they came on, everyone was going mad.

“When we see that, we know there’s a chance that if we keep working hard it can happen to us too.”
