Ollie Watkins admitted he thought his early strike against Wolves was destined for the net before it cannoned off the crossbar as the two sides played out a goalless draw.
The striker unleashed a ferocious drive from distance which rattled the woodwork in just the fourth minute of the encounter, with Ezri Konsa doing likewise from close range shortly afterwards.
It was the 14th time Villa have struck the frame of the goal this season, with Watkins doing so on seven of those occasions.
And the 25-year-old, who has already bagged 12 goals this term, felt he was unlucky at Villa Park.

“I think we started the game really well,” he told VillaTV.
“Previous few weeks, home games here, we haven’t started very well and it’s taken us until the second half to get going.
“We started with a high intensity here in the first half and we had a few chances, obviously a few of them have fallen to myself and maybe I should do better with a couple.
“But I think I was a little bit unlucky.”
Reflecting on his early opportunity, Watkins added: “I was actually running off to the corner already, as soon as I hit it, to celebrate.
“Like I said, the one-on-one that I got with (Conor) Coady, I’m looking to pass in the box, I should be hitting that and getting a shot away, really.
“It’s something I’m going to work on in training and hopefully bring more goals to the team.”
