Newcastle United pegged Aston Villa back in stoppage time as a tight Premier League contest ended all square at St James’ Park on Friday night.
Former Villan Ciaran Clark was credited with an own goal when he deflected Ollie Watkins’ diving header past his own goalkeeper after 86 minutes.
And with a matter of seconds left in the game, Jamaal Lascelles powered a header past Emiliano Martinez to snatch a point for the Magpies.

After a lively start from the hosts, the game settled into a pattern of Villa monopolising possession and probing for openings in the Newcastle half.
But aside from a few deep crosses and shots from Jacob Ramsey and Trezeguet, there was little to trouble Martin Dubravka.
Bertrand Traore had to be withdrawn midway through the half after clattering into an advertising board, with Anwar El Ghazi the man to replace him.
Newcastle also struggled for fluency during their forays forward, with Ryan Fraser failing to seriously test Martinez with the Magpies’ only shot on goal.

Ezri Konsa has proven to be a threat from set-pieces, and the centre-back climbed highest to flick Matt Targett’s free-kick just wide shortly after the interval.
Targett inadvertently drew the best save of the night from Martinez when his defensive header looped towards the bottom corner, with the Villa ‘keeper putting in an acrobatic dive to keep it out.
However, with less than ten minutes remaining Martinez was beaten when substitute Jacob Murphy saw off the attentions of two defenders and sent a shot cannoning off the crossbar.
Watkins had spent most of the game working tirelessly for the cause, and he was rewarded after 86 minutes when he met a quality cross from Targett with a diving header that deflected in off Clark and the crossbar.
The Villa striker and El Ghazi had chances to finish the game off before Lascelles planted an emphatic header past Martinez.
