Emiliano Martínez has hailed the influence of goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler as he continues to impress during his first season at Aston Villa.

The Argentine left Arsenal in the summer after ten years with the Gunners, and he’s gone on to keep 13 Premier League clean sheets in 25 games this season.

Martínez says there are a number of factors contributing to the team’s great defensive record – one of which is the input and expertise of Cutler.

He said: “I think that Neil Cutler is one of the best coaches in England.

“He’s constantly talking about the small details and even when I keep clean sheets, he’s still looking for those small margins to improve.

“The goals I concede, we recreate them to see what I could have done better. One of the reasons we’ve kept so many clean sheets is because of him.

“He’s helped me since day one to have the confidence that I was having at Arsenal. However many clean sheets we reach in the season, a big part of that is Neil Cutler.”

Martínez and his teammates will be looking to record another shutout against Wolves on Saturday as they look to chase down the club’s top-flight record of 19, which was set during the 1996/97 campaign.
