Emiliano Martínez won his first cap for Argentina on Friday.

Just over ten years since he was first called up by his national team, the goalkeeper was selected to start their 2022 World Cup qualifier against Chile.

Lionel Messi gave the Argentines the lead before they were pegged back by Alexis Sanchez as the game finished 1-1.

The result leaves Argentina second in South American qualifying, trailing Brazil by a point ahead of their next game against Colombia on Wednesday, June 9 at 12am.

Conor Hourihane was also in international action, helping the Republic of Ireland to a 4-1 win against Andorra.

The hosts took a shock lead before a brace from Troy Parrott and goals from Josh Knight and Daryl Horgan saw them to victory.

Hourihane played 87 minutes and picked up an assist on his 25th cap.

Ireland will now prepare to take on Hungary on Tuesday, June 8 at 8pm.
