Mings put in a commanding performance at the heart of defence as he started England’s 1-0 victory over Croatia in Group D, Raheem Sterling netting the only goal of the game in the second half.
Mings, in his first appearance at a major international tournament, impressed as he completed 90 minutes to help the Three Lions keep a clean sheet and get off to a perfect start in the European Championship.

Villa captain Grealish was an unused substitute at Wembley in England’s first fixture of the tournament.
Yet it was heartache for club team-mate Lovre Kalinic, who was also on the bench for Croatia as they tasted defeat.
England face John McGinn’s Scotland next up on Friday (ko 8pm), while Kalinic’s Croatia come up against the Czech Republic on the same day (ko 5pm).
Luiz has been selected in Brazil’s squad for the 2021 Copa America in their home nation.
However, the Villa midfielder was not involved on Sunday as the Seleção opened the tournament with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Venezuela.
Brazil, in Group B, face Peru next up on Friday morning (ko 1am).
