New signing Emiliano Buendía is excited to get started at Aston Villa this summer and has already heard plenty of positives from Argentina team-mate Emi Martinez.
The creative midfielder sealed his club-record transfer this week, signing a five-year deal at Villa Park.
Buendía currently remains in South America having been on international duty alongside goalkeeper Martinez for Argentina’s World Cup qualifying matches against Chile and Colombia, although he is still awaiting his senior debut.
The 24-year-old is happy to have his compatriot at the club to help him settle in, although he also admits that, having already been in England since 2018, he’ll be comfortable communicating with his new team-mates and staff.
And he can’t wait to get going ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.
Speaking to VillaTV, Buendía said: “He (Emi) already told me about a lot of the club and the city.
“He told me a lot of very good things about everything.”

Buendía added: “Yes, of course, to have someone like him is very good for my adaptation.
“So it will be better.
“But, already, it’s my fourth year in England so I can speak with every team-mate like normal.
“He told me about the very good group in the team, they are good people there.
“So I think it will be easy for me.”
Buendía arrives at Villa on the back of an incredible season for Norwich City, with the playmaker scoring 15 goals and registering 16 assists to be crowned Championship Player of the Season.
And, following his move to the midlands, the Argentinian is eager to get pre-season underway and look to show his impressive qualities for Villa.
Buendía said: “It’s a really good move for me.
“I’m really excited to start to train as soon as possible, to meet the players, the staff and everyone there.”
