Aston Villa Women defender Meaghan Sargeant says it will be great to work under Carla Ward after becoming the club’s fifth summer signing.
The 27-year-old joins having spent time at both Birmingham City and Bristol City in recent seasons.
The Sheffield-born defender can operate anywhere across the backline and has notably represented Arsenal Women at Academy level, as well as England’s Under-17s, Under-19s and Under-23s.
And having experienced a stop-start season with the Robins last time out, Sargeant is raring to go with Villa.

“Unfortunately at Bristol City I got a bad injury,” conceded the defender.
“Eventually I came back last season. I’m hoping I can now improve here at Aston Villa.
“I’m excited for the next season of football.”
As mentioned, Sargeant is versatile in her ability to play across several areas and believes she can bring a level of tranquillity to the team.
“I like to get the ball. I like to think I’m calm on it,” Sargeant said with confidence.
“I can organise everything around me and in front of me.
“I’m hoping I can bring that to influence any game that I’m playing.”
Sargeant is hopeful a good season at the club can and will come to fruition under incoming boss Carla Ward.

“I haven’t worked with Carla, but I’ve heard many good things,” hinted a smiling Sargeant.
“She’s got a lot of positive things to bring, and if she can improve me, which I’m sure she can, it’ll be great to work under her.”
