Anwar El Ghazi and Emiliano MartĂnez have been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for December.
The Aston Villa duo played crucial roles at opposite ends of the pitch as the club went unbeaten during the month, winning three times and drawing twice.
After stepping off the bench to score an injury-time penalty in a 1-0 win against Wolves, El Ghazi made four consecutive starts and scored a further four goals during December.
The winger scored twice against West Bromwich Albion before netting against Crystal Palace and Chelsea to continue his hot streak.
At the other end of the pitch, MartĂnez continued his excellent form since his summer arrival from Arsenal by conceding just once during December.
The Argentine kept a league-high four clean sheets and made 22 saves, including seven superb stops against Wolves.
Villa’s duo are up against Bruno Fernandes, Ben Mee, Marcus Rashford, Mohamed Salah, Tomas Soucek and John Stones for the award.
Voting closes at 6pm on Monday 11 January.
