Aston Villa Women face a short turnaround this Sunday, as they welcome Arsenal to the Banks's Stadium.
Marcus Bignot oversaw his first game in interim charge on Wednesday as Villa lost 4-0 to league leaders Chelsea.
Despite the scoreline, there was a feeling of encouragement amongst the players and staff going into the remainder of the campaign as we pass the midway point.
Sunday's game against the Gunners rounds off a stretch of three home fixtures in the space of eight days, with Tottenham Hotspurs and Birmingham City still to come before the international break in February.

Having faced Chelsea at the Banks’s Stadium on Wednesday, Villa welcome another London-based powerhouse this weekend.
Joe Montemurro’s Arsenal side come to the Midlands on Sunday and have top spot firmly within their sights despite sitting 4th in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table.
Villa face a daunting prospect in trying to stop the Gunners this weekend, with Vivianne Miedema and co. bringing an unbeaten record against the so-called ‘non-top-six’ sides with them them.
Perhaps a sign of encouragement, however, was Arsenal’s recent 1-1 draw with Reading.
Having picked up a point last weekend against the Royals, Villa will believe a result is attainable this weekend.
Form Guide
Here's how the two sides have fared going into Sunday's matchup...

Marcus Bignot
Villa's interim manager spoke to VillaTV following Wednesday's defeat to Chelsea...
“Obviously, disappointed by the 4-0 scoreline. In reflection, tonight’s not going to define our season. What I’ve seen tonight is encouraging in terms of moving forward with this group. Really pleased with our off-the-ball organisation. In the second half we grew into the game and I thought we had some big moments. I want to see that transfer into the game on Sunday. We’ll take the positives from tonight and move in the right direction ahead of Arsenal.”
“I’m disappointed by the goals in all honesty. I said that to the group. If you look at them, they are disappointing goals to concede. Overall, I thought we nullified what Chelsea are good at. They didn’t cut us open like they’re capable of doing. For them to put that performance in off the back of one session shows me that I’m encouraged.”
"Moving forward, I'm encouraged that we're going to have a strong second half of the season." 🔮
