As we prepare to welcome in 2022, we’ve taken a look back at some of the best Aston Villa moments from 2021.
Last January saw Villa make history as they handed first-team debuts to all 11 players in the starting line-up, with a youthful side made up entirely of Under-23s and Under-18s pushing Liverpool all the way before falling to a battling defeat in their FA Cup third-round tie.
The final day of the 2020/21 season celebrated the long-awaited return of 10,000 supporters inside Villa Park as Villa triumphed 2-1 over Chelsea, before our Young Lions lifted the FA Youth Cup just days later on a memorable night for the club’s Academy.
The year has finished with Steven Gerrard’s side having won four of their final seven matches, tasting defeat only against the top three, to round off 2021 in 12th place in the Premier League on 22 points from 18 matches.
