Loan round-up: Azaz scores stunner for Newport

Finn Azaz scored the winner for Newport County in their League Two clash against Port Vale on Saturday.

Trailing 1-0 until Dom Telford scored after 69 minutes, promotion-chasing County took all three points when the midfielder showed great technique to take the ball down under pressure and fire a shot into the far corner.

It was the third goal of Azaz’s loan spell with the Welsh club, helping them move up to fourth in the table.

Kaine Kesler-Hayden’s Swindon Town sit three places below them after losing 2-0 away to Barrow.

The full-back, who scored his first senior goal in the FA Cup in midweek, played the full 90 minutes as two second half penalties won it for Barrow.

Tyreik Wright came on for the final seven minutes but was unable to help Salford City avoid a 2-1 defeat against Mansfield Town.

The loss sees City slide to 17^th in the table.

Elsewhere in League Two, Brad Young and Dominic Revan didn’t feature for Carlisle United and Northampton Town respectively.

In Ligue 1, Frederic Guilbert and Strasbourg went down 2-0 at home to second place Marseille.

The full-back played the entire match for his loan side, who are seventh in the table.

Lovre Kalinic was taken off injured at half-time as Hajduk Split played out a 3-3 draw against Lokomotiva Zagreb.

The goalkeeper was withdrawn with the score at 1-1, watching on from the stands as his replacement Danijel Subasic score an own goal with three minutes left.

Louie Barry (Ipswich Town), Conor Hourihane (Sheffield United), Mungo Bridge (FC Annecy), Wesley (Club Brugge), Seb Revan (Grimsby Town) and Arjan Raikhy (Stockport County) weren’t in action.
