Morgan Sanson believes Aston Villa can take plenty of positives from their narrow defeat to Liverpool as they look to bounce back against Norwich City.

Villa fell to a 1-0 reverse at Anfield on Saturday, Mohamed Salah netting the only goal of the game from the penalty spot midway through the second half.

It was a hard-working performance similar to the one which pushed Manchester City all the way 10 days prior, one which ultimately provided no points return but was full of determination, spirit and energy.

And midfielder Sanson feels there is much to be upbeat about heading into Tuesday’s trip to Carrow Road.

“Obviously, it was a defeat, but we had a lot of positive things in the game, especially in the second half,” he told VillaTV.

“We did some things well, we had good possession with a lot of passing, that we expected before the game.

“They scored with a penalty so, of course, we are sad, but we will learn from this defeat and we will bounce back.”

He added: “Against City, against Liverpool, we have had a lot of good things to keep and to work on in the future.

“We expect a lot from ourselves and we have to be focused on the next game.”

Sanson stepped off the bench in the 57th minute against the Reds, coming on the back of substitute appearances in the club’s last two matches against Leicester City and Pep Guardiola’s Blues.

And having gone through a tough time with injuries since his arrival at the club, the Frenchman is delighted to be in the middle of the action once again.

“I’m very happy to be back on the pitch,” he said.

“I’m feeling much better every day, day after day, so I’m really happy.”
