Matty Cash felt Aston Villa were unlucky not to collect any reward for their efforts against Manchester City on Wednesday night but can take plenty of pride from their second-half performance.
Villa found themselves 2-0 down at half-time against classy City courtesy of Ruben Dias’ deflected strike and Bernardo Silva’s sublime volley.
Ollie Watkins’ smart finish in the 47th minute gave a re-energised Villa plenty of cause for optimism, with the hosts producing a positive second-half display very much on the front foot, one which ultimately didn’t secure a share of the spoils but made City sweat all the way.
And right-back Cash feels the Villans can take that into Sunday’s home encounter against Leicester City.
“Against a really good side, I thought second half we were really good,” he told VillaTV.
“I think first half we were a bit passive in some areas but the reaction we showed after half-time was really good.
“We were unlucky not to get a result, really.
“As I said, they’re a top-quality side so we’ve got to take that performance in the second half into the weekend.”
