Aston Villa lost out to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Under-18 Premier League on Saturday.

The visiting Villans made a fast start on the South Coast and led after four minutes when Taylor-Jay Hart netted his fifth goal of the season.

But the sides went into half-time level, thanks to Matt Everitt’s 25th minute penalty for the Seagulls.

And Brighton, who won the reverse fixture 2-0, completed the comeback and forged ahead with two goals in three minutes.

Cameron Peupion scored with 51 minutes on the clock and his effort was quickly followed by a strike from a trialist.

Villa looked to have been handed a route back into the game when Jack Hinshelwood was shown a straight red with 20 minutes to play.

But Brighton put the game to bed with Bailey Smith’s goal five minutes later.

Substitute Ruben Shakpoke pulled one back for the away side in the 78th minute but it proved to be a consolation as Brighton took the points.

The result leaves Villa fourth in the table with three games left to play.
