John McGinn fired the hosts ahead after just 20 seconds against the Premier League leaders only for Phil Foden and Rodrigo to turn the game around for the visitors before the break.

John Stones saw red for City before Matty Cash was also dismissed for a second bookable offence, with Villa unable to force a second-half equaliser.
