Aston Villa are teaming up with the No.1 independent fantasy football site in 2020/21.

Fantasy Football Scout will be providing regular reports packed with hints and tips to help you, hopefully, move into the top tier of fantasy football management.

Need some help with your FPL line-up, sit back and take their advice on board…

Ross Barkley

There are so many reasons to be cheerful if you're a Villa fan right now, especially with two wins from two and the signing of Ross Barkley (£5.9m).

And let’s not forget the Villans' perfect start to the Premier League season has propelled many of our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) stars to the high branches of their respective scoring trees.

A visit from Liverpool and a trip to Leicester are up next for Dean Smith's men. The fact that Villa currently share top four status with these sides speaks volumes for what a great start to the season it's been.

Now to kick on, with a couple of new Villa players for your Fantasy team to help out.

Ezri Konsa

Case for the Defence

First up is Tyrone Mings (£5.0m). The England international was unlucky not to receive a bonus award for his performance in Monday night's 3-0 win at Fulham – a clean sheet and a goal usually means extra points for a defender in FPL.

He had to make do with 12 points – testament to the excellence of certain teammates – and has now treated his 2.7% FPL ownership to back-to-back double-digit hauls this campaign.

He and Ezri Konsa (£4.5m) are, respectively, second and third in FPL's defenders table, with only Leicester's Timothy Castagne (£5.7m) ahead of them – a player with an extra game under his belt this season, lest we forget.

No defender has had more attempts on target than Mings' two and, of the four who can match his output, three have played one more match.

Mings' big chances, goal conversion rate (33%) and minutes per chance average of 60 are also all top ten stats for defenders who've played at least 180 minutes.

Aston Villa vs Manchester United

McGinn the Zone

We've already highlighted the Fantasy joy to be had from owning Jack Grealish (£7.0m) this season. But if you haven't quite got the cash for the captain, John McGinn (£5.5m) could be your man.

The midfielder had a blinder at Craven Cottage, setting up two goals to earn himself two bonus points and a double figure tally on the night.

McGinn is already to be found in the top eight for chances created among midfielders - and the pair ahead of him who have also played just the two matches are fantasy royalty in the shape of Kevin De Bruyne (£11.6m) and Bruno Fernandes (£10.5m).

Even the briefest of glances at that pair's FPL prices shows what a bargain McGinn could be. He's second only to Arsenal's Willian (£8.0m) for assists, while only a pair of midfielders have created more big chances than McGinn's two, and they've both done so from an extra appearance.

Factor in his 26 minutes per chance created average – only De Bruyne can top that among those who've played only 180 minutes so far – and McGinn is offering a lot of creative bang for relatively little buck.

Oh, and he's also managed a very respectable four attempts on goal.
