By Aston Villa FC

Aston Villa are marking Remembrance Day this month and we’re running a poetry competition for junior fans.

The club hosted a number of activities in support of the Royal British Legion at Sunday's Premier League game against Southampton at Villa Park. To bid on match worn, signed poppy shirts, click here.

We also want young Villans to get creative and share their messages of Remembrance to help mark the occasion.

The competition is a great chance to learn more about Remembrance Day, while there will also be an exciting prize for the winning poem.

First prize will be a matchworn special edition poppy shirt from our game against Arsenal on November 8.

The top three poems will be included in the official matchday programme, Villa News & Record, for the home game against Brighton on November 21.

Entries will be judged by members of the Military Lions, one of the club's official supporters' groups, who have kindly offered their services for the competition.

To enter, we’re asking that parents email in the poems along with the child’s first name and age. Emails can be sent directly to Lee Preece (lee.preece@avfc.co.uk).

The poems/designs can be created digitally or by hand. If created by hand we’ll just need them to send in a picture of the poem and make sure it’s eligible.

The deadline for submitting entries is November 4. The winner will be announced on Remembrance Day (November 11).

Full terms and conditions can be found here.

Good luck!
