Dean Smith surprised members of the Aston Villa Foundation’s Dementia Café when he joined one of their virtual meetups in the build-up to Christmas.
The head coach, who is an ambassador for the initiative, dialled into the group’s video call, much to the surprise and delight of the participants.
Smith spent time talking to the group about their shared love for Aston Villa and their memories of supporting the club.
He also wished them a happy Christmas and promised to visit the group in person when it’s safe to do so.
The Dementia Café was funded by the Villa View and offers people living with Dementia an opportunity to engage in activities, whilst offering their carers respite.
Over lockdown, the café has been predominantly virtual, with a few guided walks when government guidelines allowed.
