John McGinn felt Aston Villa were good value for a point against Chelsea on Monday night.
The Scotsman and his teammates fell behind to Olivier Giroud’s header before fighting back to earn a draw in the second half.
Villa had chances to win the game, with McGinn himself going closest to a winner when he rattled the crossbar with a long-range effort.

He said: “It was a good result overall. It’s a difficult place to come and not a lot of teams will come here and get a result.
“It shows the character and determination in the squad to go and put a performance in like that. Full credit to the lads, it’s a pleasure to play with them at the minute.
“I hit the valve of the ball and I thought it was going to drop under the crossbar, but it wasn’t to be.”
The 26-year-old was Villa’s driving force from midfield against the Blues, flying around the pitch and making key contributions at both ends.
But it was the performance of goalscorer Anwar El Ghazi that caught McGinn’s eye, with the winger continuing his resurgence.

McGinn said: “He’s a brilliant player and when Anwar’s confident he’s up there with the best in the league.
“His head didn’t drop when he wasn’t playing, he kept fighting and he kept being a good teammate. He got his rewards tonight and helped us get a point.”
With 2020 wrapped up, attentions now turn to building on their strong points total over their first 14 Premier League games.
“It’s a tough run for us now but I think we showed tonight that we’re a good team. We can build from this and keep going or we can go the other way,” McGinn said.
“I’m sure that Aston Villa fans will agree, with the character and ability we’ve got in that dressing room we can go far.”
