Nadine Hanssen has urged Aston Villa Women to produce more consistency, after falling to a 3-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Dutch midfielder scored a wonderful goal at The Hive, but it was in vain as Gemma Davies’ side dropped back down to 11th in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League table.

Speaking to VillaTV after the game, Hanssen expressed her frustration.

“It’s a disappointing afternoon for us” said Hanssen.

“We went behind quite early in the game, but we came back.

“It’s unlucky that we went behind so quickly after getting the equaliser.”

Having experienced a quick turnaround between games this week, Villa may have been forgiven for lack of sharpness on Sunday.

But Hanssen chose not to point towards that as a determining factor.

“They had the advantage of not playing in midweek, but we can’t make that excuse” stated the midfielder.

“Maybe they were fresher, but we just need to make sure we rest, recover well and go again next Sunday.

“In possession, we had some good spells. If we can be more consistent with that, we can get a good result at West Ham.”
