One of the teachers who completed the programme at Birchfield Community School said: “The PE support has given me confidence in delivering PE. The way the children are engaged and active in PE has been rewarding.”

This year, two of our staff members were also give the fantastic opportunity to travel overseas to teach the programme. Paul Hughes, our Schools Manager, travelled to Austin, Texas, whilst Alex Owens, our Primary Stars Coach, travelled to New Delhi in India.

Alex said: “To be able to represent Aston Villa and the Premier League Primary Stars programme in India was fantastic. It was brilliant to share my knowledge and good practice with the teachers and coaches in Delhi, showing how we deliver Primary Stars through the power of the football club to children.”

Paul said: “It was a privilege to be highlighted by the Premier League to showcase our Premier League Primary Stars Programme in Austin, TX. The visit provided a great opportunity to share our delivery model and how we utilise the power of football, the football club and active learning to bring to life National Curriculum subjects to four elementary schools.

“We focused our delivery in Austin on our Values Based Learning approach through PSHE related workshops to teachers and children. It was also a valuable learning experience to see how PL Primary Stars is delivered digitally in the USA and the reception we received at each school was incredible to be a part of!’’
