The new season is firmly in view following the release of the Premier League fixtures for the 2020/21 campaign.

And there are plenty of great games in store as Aston Villa prepare for another season in the top-flight.

We’ve picked five standout matches from Villa’s schedule that we can’t wait to watch…

24 October: Leeds United at Villa Park

Leeds United have waited 16 long years to make it back to the Premier League since they were relegated in 2004.

They slipped down into League One before their resurgence began, with Argentine Head Coach Marcelo Bielsa taking them back to the promised land by winning the Championship last season.

Their return to the top tier has created a lot of excitement and their visit to Villa Park is bound to be an exciting game to watch for supporters.

19 December: West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns

Villa return to the scene of their famous 2019 Play-Off semi-final victory in December, with memories still fresh from the penalty shoot-out victory that set-up the club’s return to the Premier League.

Albion are back after a two-year stay in the Championship, sealing promotion with a nervy draw on the final day of last season.

With bragging rights up for grabs, a local derby is always an important game on the calendar.

26 December: Crystal Palace at Villa Park

Boxing Day is a special day on the English football calendar, and this year we’re set to take on Crystal Palace at home.

Whether fans are inside the stadium or not, having home advantage could prove crucial as the Villans look to give fans a late Christmas present.

The 2-0 win in the corresponding fixture last season proved crucial to Villa’s Premier League survival, and the squad will be hoping it brings them more joy this time around.

2 January: Manchester United at Old Trafford

There aren’t many better places to kick-off a New Year than at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.

And after showing their mettle with a 2-2 draw on the same ground last season, Dean Smith’s team will approach the game believing they can start 2021 on a high note.

Villa will be hoping to produce another away day performance in the ilk of their 2-1 victory at Burnley that kickstarted 2020.

23 May: Chelsea at Villa Park

Jack Grealish produced the goods on the final day of last season to keep Villa in the Premier League, and they’ll hope to be free from relegation fears when Chelsea visit Villa Park to finish the 2020/21 campaign.

The Blues enjoyed a strong first season under Frank Lampard’s leadership last term, including a 2-1 success in B6.

They won the reverse fixture by the same scoreline at Stamford Bridge, so Villa will be keen to end the season on a high and show Chelsea what they’re capable of.
