Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish produced the best campaign of his career so far in 2019/20, leading his club to Premier League safety while producing stand-out performances on a weekly basis.
The No.10 was named as Villa’s Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Year this week, deserved recognition for a truly special season.
Take a look at some of the key figures behind a spectacular year…
18
Grealish was directly involved in 18 goals in all competitions for Villa throughout the 2019/20 campaign, the best single-season tally of his career so far.
He scored 10 – another personal best in a single season and the first time that he has reached double figures in a campaign – while setting up a further eight for his teammates.

Matt Targett and Conor Hourihane were both set up twice by Grealish, while assists were also provided for Keinan Davis, Douglas Luiz, Wesley and Bjorn Engels.
No English midfielder scored more goals (8) than Grealish in the Premier League.
91
Another fact that outlines the creative prowess of the Villa captain is that only Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne (136) created more chances than Grealish (91) in the top flight last term.
On average, he created 2.5 chances a game and provided a key pass for his teammates every 35 minutes in the Premier League.

Grealish’s 91 chances created came in 36 appearances, compared to 78 in 34 games in the Championship last season.
The step up in quality certainly hasn’t been a problem for the Villa skipper.
167
Rivals have often found Grealish to be unplayable and his record of 167 fouls won this season indicates that.
He was fouled more times than any other Premier League player, with Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha (120) and Jordan Ayew (105) the only other two players to reach three figures.
Jack Grealish won more fouls (167) during the 2019/20 Premier League season than has ever been previously recorded in a single campaign in the competition.

Such is the quality of Villa’s talisman, opposition defenders are often forced to admit defeat in terms of winning the ball back and consistently foul Grealish, sometimes without punishment.
Chelsea committed nine fouls on Grealish at Villa Park in June, with just one player – N’Golo Kante – picking up a booking.
Neymar is the only player in Europe’s top five leagues (Premier League, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A) to be fouled more than nine times in a single game this season.
9,105
Grealish ranked eighth in the Premier League for successful dribbles last season with 73, but it’s another figure that really catches the eye.
In total, the midfielder carried the ball 9,105 yards towards the opponents’ goal throughout the campaign – more than any other player, with Zaha and Wolves’ Adama Traore close behind.
His ability to beat players led to his goals against Manchester United and West Ham, and his assists against Norwich City and Leicester City.
3,550
After suffering with injuries at times during 2017/18 and 2018/19, Grealish displayed excellent durability throughout this season, especially considering the number of fouls that he suffered.
The midfielder only missed out three games due to injury in 2019/20 and he played more minutes (3,550) than any other Villa player in all competitions.

When fit, the only two games in which he didn’t feature were against Liverpool and Fulham in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup respectively.
Grealish also completed 90 minutes in 35 of his 36 Premier League appearances.
