The Aston Villa Foundation has resumed activity within many of their coaching based programmes.

Football in the Community courses have restarted and will be running over the summer, with tickets available by clicking here.

The Foundation’s Kicks programme has also resumed, giving young people from areas of the city vulnerable to crime access to free sport sessions.

James Lowbridge, Interventions Manager for the Foundation, said: “I am delighted that Kicks sessions are now re-starting at selected venues.

“During lockdown we know that many young people have missed Kicks both socially and mentally, so to start providing sports sessions again has been so important.

“All sessions take place in a socially distanced format and young people have been developing their skills and channelling their focus in their development both sporting and personally.

“Our coaches have used this unique approach as a perfect opportunity to mentor many vulnerable youngsters and using football as an engagement tool.”

Disability and Football and Education sessions are also back, to the delight of the many participants.

Nigel Macrow, Disability Football Manager, said: “Ability Counts, the Foundation’s disability football provision, has restarted.

“Most of our teams return next week, with the adults’ league team and the ladies returning on Monday from 2-3pm, the Under 16s on Wednesday 2-3pm, the Under 13s Friday 2-3pm and rest of the adults returning on Friday 5-6pm.

“It’s been great to welcome back all of our players and staff to the King Edwards School playing fields for our pre-season sessions. We have made sure the environment is safe and we’re keen to get going!”

All coaching sessions are being run within government guidelines and are safe and secure for all participants.
