Chloë Arthur says Aston Villa’s ambition was a key factor in her decision to make the move across the city from rivals Birmingham City.
The Scottish international left Blues last month after two seasons, and she becomes Villa Women’s first summer signing.
Arthur is excited by the direction the team are heading in following their promotion from the FA Women’s Championship, and in her first interview with VillaTV, she declared her excitement upon signing.
“It’s good to finally be here after lockdown and it feels real now that I’m putting pen-to-paper,” she said.
“A standout factor was the professionalism and ambition of the club and the people they have in place to really drive them forward.
“That excited me and made me want to be here and have a fresh start at a new club.”
Gemma Davies is preparing her side for life in the Super League and the Head Coach retained 13 players from the title-winning squad earlier this week.
Davies believes Arthur will be a valuable addition to the team and that there’s much more to come from the midfielder – a sentiment which the player shares.
Arthur said: “The main aim for me is to enjoy football. You often go through low patches so having a new start and a new challenge is going to allow me to enjoy myself.
“I want to score more goals than I have done in previous seasons – that’s always a target for me.
“Being part of an exciting team, I think I’ll be able to accomplish my goals here.”
The Super League season is aiming for a start date of 5-6 September. If you’d like to get updates on Women’s fixtures, tickets and news, fill out the form below.
