The games continue to come thick and fast in the Premier League and Dean Smith joined the media on a video call on Thursday morning to preview Aston Villa’s upcoming fixture with Wolves.
Villa picked up another point on Wednesday night against Newcastle United at St James’ Park but now, attention turns to a local derby at Villa Park.
This is what the boss had to say…
On confidence and spirit…
"We can see the team spirit that we have and also the quality.
"Confidence has not wavered. When players are playing well, they know, and they are playing well at the moment.
On turning draws into wins...
"We all know what a win means and what it can do for the league table.
"We aren't giving too many chances away, but we need to convert our chances.
"We have to be more clinical when we get those opportunities, because we worked some great situations last night."
On the Premier League table...
"All of the clubs are trying to drag other teams into it and you only do that by winning games.
"I've looked at the fixtures and you target some more than others and you set a gameplan for each game.
"We deserved three points against Sheffield United and Newcastle."
On John McGinn…
"We are having to manage him, he's trying to recapture the form that he had previously but it's difficult, because he needs his match fitness.
"He's getting better, certainly fitness-wise.”
On Wolves…
"This is our fourth game in 11 days so it's going to be a tough one.
"[Raul] Jimenez is one of the signings of the season, a proper goalscorer and one of the best centre-forwards that I've seen in the league this season.
"Nuno has done an unbelievable job at Wolves and they deserve to be where they are at the moment.”
